KiK QUALITY MANAGEMENT
One thing is clear to us: quality and attractive prices are not mutually exclusive, but go really well together - from clothing to household goods and decorative items. To maintain KiK quality and offer safe products, we take a close look at our items and their journey before they are offered in one of our stores.
We adhere to strict quality and safety standards and have our products tested regularly. This enables us to guarantee product safety in the long term and meet the needs of our customers even better.
TESTING BEYOND LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
Because we ourselves set the highest standards for the quality of our products, we exceed the legal requirements time and time again. Our quality management uses standardized procedures and defines additional internal test procedures in cooperation with other departments.
HOW KiK ENSURES QUALITY
For us, quality management means the coordinated interaction of several departments and areas that work hand in hand internally. From product development to purchasing and incoming goods - all these areas work together to ensure our high quality standards. We also work closely with external international testing institutes in Asia and Europe to guarantee the KiK quality that our customers rely on.
For us, reliable quality starts at the very beginning of the supply chain. We ensure that only good quality raw materials and products are processed and purchased.
As early as the development phase, we test articles in our own laboratory using chemical and physical tests.
We also have our products tested by renowned, independent institutes. This gives us double assurance that our quality is maintained.
As soon as the goods arrive at one of our warehouses, we inspect them. Only goods that correspond to the tested sample quality find their way into the store.

QUALITY SEALS & LABELS
We use various seals to transparently display our requirements directly on our products. When selecting the seals, we make sure that they offer added value for our customers - they stand for higher quality and positive environmental aspects. However, due to the large number of seals, this overview is not an exhaustive list.
SAFE FOR YOU, CONSIDERATE OF THE ENVIRONMENT
The European REACH regulation governs the authorization and restriction of chemical substances in textiles. Certain substances, such as some azo dyes or phthalates, are banned. The REACH regulation is therefore particularly important for consumer safety as well as occupational health and safety and environmental protection.
Safety is our top priority. That is why the legal requirements are not enough for us: As part of the Textiles Partnership, we have decided, together with the other members, to go one step further towards fashion without harmful substances: We are replacing 100 chemicals of concern in textile production with harmless substances. We are guided by the MRSL (Manufacturing Restricted Substances List) of the ZDHC Foundation (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) - good for our customers and for the environment.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Every item is subjected to a thorough inspection right from the first sample order. This ensures that a product is produced flawlessly and that the quality meets our requirements. As this inspection takes place during production, any faults or anomalies in quality or design can be discussed directly with the manufacturer and rectified on site.
In addition, we check the goods on delivery in accordance with legal and KiK-internal requirements, including labeling, documentation, function and processing. The goods are also randomly tested again by accredited testing institutes. These additional checks are part of our comprehensive quality assurance process.
First and foremost are the legal requirements that our products must meet. These include, for example, the statutory limits for harmful substances in our products.
In order to provide our customers with the best possible quality, KiK products are also subject to our own quality guidelines. These are generally based on the standards and norms of the respective product groups. We regularly scrutinize our internal test procedures and redefine them as necessary in order to maintain and meet our quality standards at all times.
We set and meet high standards, especially when it comes to clothing for children and newborns. After all, our clothing should not only be fashionable for the little ones, but also particularly reliable and safe. The same applies to personal protective equipment such as swimwear with UV protection and our non-food range, such as toys.
Before we produce an item, we order a sample. This allows us to adapt the products to our requirements before large-scale production without producing unnecessary waste. If a sample does not meet our requirements, we do not even have it delivered to us.
If we only discover on delivery that items do not meet our quality standards, we make a complaint and try to refurbish the goods in accordance with our quality requirements. Only in cases where no reconditioning is possible will the goods be sent back to the supplier.
Our quality management always keeps its finger on the pulse. We always keep an eye on new developments, such as new EU directives, and implement them immediately. We are also constantly working on optimizing our test procedures and our requirements. This enables us to test our products in a targeted manner.
Transparency is very important to us. Our customers should always be able to see exactly what they are buying. That's why we use external certifications. We only work with recognized and relevant certificates, such as OEKO-TEX® Standard 100.
