HOW WE HAVE GROWN

Over 30 years ago, we recognized our opportunity and seized it. As a result, we have become one of the largest textile and non-food retail companies in Europe - with over 4,200 stores in 14 European markets and a total of more than 32,000 employees from over 120 nations. The history of KiK is a history of healthy growth. With our diverse range of products, we inspire more and more people every year, because for us, “the customer is king” still applies today.

1994

The starting point

We open the very first KiK store in Düsseldorf-Gerresheim on an impressive 180 m2.

1998

Expansion in Austria

The opening of the first KiK store in Austria is the starting signal for our expansion.

1999

500 KiK STORES

Shortly before the turn of the millennium, we open the KiK store no. 500.

2001

European headquarters & quality management

The European headquarters in Bönen is inaugurated. At the same time, we introduce the quality management department.

2007

First steps in Eastern Europe

We now also delight customers in the Czech Republic and Slovenia with quality at reasonable prices.

2008

Further expansion in Eastern Europe

The expansion into Eastern Europe is a success, so we continue to expand and open our first stores in Hungary and Slovakia.

2009

Expansion of the product range

Products from the quality brand Ergee - socks for women, men and children as well as clothing, sleeping bags and blankets for babies - are now part of KiK and are available exclusively from us.

2011

Expansion & Sustainability Report

Launch of our shopping experiences in Croatia that are KiK different. We also publish our first sustainability report.

2012

Expansion in Poland

We open the first KiK store in Poland.

2013

Further expansion & online shop

Klant is koning - KiK is now also available in the Netherlands. We also open our first online store. In Germany, customers can now also explore the KiK variety online.

2014

Expansion of the logistics network

The logistics center in Holzwickede, North Rhine-Westphalia, takes over the logistics for our online store with immediate effect.

2017

Expansion in Italy and logistics expansion

Italian customers can now also be surprised by the KiK range in their local area. And thanks to our logistics center in Slovakia, we are supplying stores in Eastern Europe even more efficiently.

2018

Expansion in Romania

We continue to grow and open our first store in Romania.

2020

Expansion in Bulgaria

With Bulgaria, we bring the KiK shopping experience to another country.

Opening of sourcing offices

With our own sourcing offices in Bangladesh, Turkey and China, we are closer to our production sites.

Loyalty program & expansion

Our customers now benefit from the myKiK advantages. We also expand to Portugal and Spain and launch our online store in Austria.

Logistics expansion & online store Poland

We not only launch our Polish online store, but also open a logistics center there.

2024

myKiK & THE ONLINE SHOP IN MORE COUNTRIES

The myKiK loyalty program is now also available in Hungary, Croatia, and Slovenia. In the Netherlands, we are launching our online shop. In addition, KiK is opening its own sourcing office in India.
