Privacy Policy
With this privacy policy, we would like to inform you about how we process personal data. We are aware of the importance of processing personal data for users and therefore comply with all applicable legal requirements. Protecting your privacy is of the utmost importance to us, and compliance with statutory data protection regulations is a matter of course for us.
Our data protection practices comply in particular with the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as well as the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).
Please read our information on data protection carefully. If you have any further questions or comments, please contact us at: datenschutz@kik.de
Legal Bases
We generally process your data on the basis of the following legal grounds:
Consent, e.g. newsletters, inquiries: Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR
Pre-contractual measures and order processing, performance of a contractual relationship, e.g. applications: Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR
Legal obligations, e.g. retention obligations: Art. 6 (1) lit. c GDPR
Advertising without consent, tracking, server log files, cookies, e.g. to improve our services and for technical reasons (legitimate interests): Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR
Storage of Access Data in Server Log Files
When our website is accessed, our system automatically records data from the accessing computer system for each page request and stores it in so-called server log files.
The following data is collected:
Date and time of access
Name of the requested file
Referrer URL from which the page was accessed
IP address
Amount of data transferred
Requesting provider
Operating system and browser used
This data is not stored together with other personal data of the user. Although the IP address theoretically allows assignment to a specific user, it is not possible to directly identify you from this information.
Storage in server log files is carried out based on the following legitimate interests:
Ensuring the security of our information technology systems (fraud prevention and forensic analysis)
Ensuring the smooth operation of the website
Optimization of the website
The collection of data for providing the website and the storage of data in log files is absolutely necessary for operating the website. Consequently, users have no option to object.
The data is not used for marketing purposes. The data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected.
Collection and Use of Data for Contract Processing, Customer Accounts, or Contact Requests
We collect personal data if you voluntarily provide it to us as part of your order, when contacting us (e.g. via contact form or email), or when opening a customer account. The data collected can be seen from the respective input forms.
We use the data provided by you for contract processing and handling your inquiries. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b or c GDPR.
After complete processing of the contract or deletion of your customer account, your data will be restricted for further processing and deleted after expiry of retention periods under tax and commercial law, unless you have expressly consented to further use of your data or we reserve the right to further data use that is legally permitted and about which we inform you below.
Deletion of your customer account is possible at any time and can be requested either by contacting us at datenschutz@kik.de, by post at the address listed below, or via a corresponding function in the customer account.
Applicant Data
If you contact us as part of an application via our career portal and provide your application documents by email or through our portal, we process your data for handling your application.
Your data will only be processed for this purpose and, where applicable, for the implementation of the employment relationship. If no employment relationship is established, your data will be deleted six months after completion of the application process unless you have consented to longer storage or another legitimate interest exists, such as evidentiary obligations under the German General Equal Treatment Act (AGG).
The mandatory data specified there is required; otherwise we cannot process your request or can only process it inadequately.
Disclosure of Data to Third Parties
Your data will only be disclosed insofar as necessary for the performance and processing of the contractual relationship, for example to the shipping company commissioned with delivery, the credit institution responsible for payment processing, or payment service providers commissioned by us (e.g. Klarna), or to the payment service selected by you during the ordering process.
Any further disclosure of your data to third parties will only occur with your express consent, where necessary for legal defense based on legitimate interests, or in the event of a legal obligation.
Use of Data for Email Newsletter Registration
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we use the data you provide for this purpose to regularly send you our email newsletter.
The registration process works as follows: a confirmation email is sent to the email address you initially entered for newsletter delivery. This confirmation email serves to verify that you are the owner of the specified email address and that you, as the data subject, have authorized receipt of the newsletter. Registration for the newsletter is only completed after successful confirmation.
If you also have a user account in our online shop or participate in a KiK customer loyalty program (e.g. KiK customer card), and you use the same email address for these services, your data will be linked. This enables us to send you targeted advertising based on actions you have taken in the shop, on the website, or in our retail stores.
The merging of data is carried out exclusively for our own targeted advertising purposes. Your data will not be sold to third parties.
Independently of this, we also use clicks performed within the newsletter to improve our services and for targeted advertising purposes. If you do not have a user profile in the online shop and do not participate in a customer loyalty program, only the data you provided when subscribing to the newsletter will be used.
You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time either by contacting us using the contact details provided below or via the unsubscribe link included in the newsletter, without incurring any costs other than the transmission costs according to basic tariffs.
Even if you are already a customer and have made purchases in our online shop, you will only receive a newsletter if you have separately requested it and confirmed it through the process described above.
The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a or b GDPR.
Use of Data for Email Advertising Without Newsletter Subscription and Your Right to Object
If we receive your email address in connection with the sale of goods or services and you have consented to this, we reserve the right to regularly send you offers by email for similar products from our range to those you have already purchased.
You may object to the use of your email address for this purpose at any time by contacting us using the contact details provided below or via the unsubscribe link included in the advertising email, without incurring any costs other than the transmission costs according to basic tariffs.
Use of Data When Registering for the Messenger Newsletter
By using Facebook Messenger and interacting with KiK by clicking “Get Started,” we may access the public information of your Facebook account. For example, we process your location data for the store locator function and, if you have subscribed to news via Messenger, for sending local promotions in your area.
If you subscribe to our Facebook Messenger newsletter, we use the publicly accessible profile data you provide on Facebook to regularly send you our Facebook Messenger newsletter.
The registration process works as follows: within Facebook Messenger, you can subscribe to and manage our Facebook Messenger newsletter via the “News and Offers” button by clicking “News in Messenger.”
You are free at any time to pause or unsubscribe from the Messenger newsletter you subscribed to using the “Manage News” function.
As part of the Facebook Messenger newsletter, we may ask you for personal information such as age, gender, clothing sizes, preferences, or similar information. Providing this information is voluntary.
This allows us to send you targeted advertising based on the information you provide and concerning topics that are genuinely relevant to you. Naturally, you may also select “no selection” in response to these questions.
The data is used exclusively for our own targeted advertising purposes. Your data will neither be sold nor disclosed to third parties.
Please note that by clicking “News via Messenger,” you consent to our use of publicly accessible Facebook data for profiling purposes.
The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR.
You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time either by sending a message with “Manage News” or by using the “Manage News” button at the end of a message, without incurring any costs other than the transmission costs according to basic tariffs.
The Facebook Messenger privacy policy also applies.
Information on the Use of the “Purchase on Invoice” Payment Method
If you choose to pay via “purchase on invoice,” you agree that we may transmit your personal customer data, purchase contract data, your IP address, the so-called user agent, information about whether you were logged into your customer account during the online purchase, and whether you have previously purchased from us, to our invoice payment provider Unzer E-Com GmbH (“Unzer”).
Purpose
This data transfer enables Unzer to carry out the requested invoice processing for your purchase and to conduct identity and creditworthiness checks, including an assessment of payment default risks.
Unzer requires this data in order to obtain information from credit agencies to verify identity and creditworthiness.
Unzer also uses the data to make decisions regarding the acceptance, execution, or termination of the contractual relationship associated with the payment services offered by Unzer, including address verification and evaluation of the buyer’s previous payment behavior.
In addition, Unzer uses the data to calculate probability values for future payment behavior. The calculation is based on recognized mathematical-statistical methods. Unzer will also use your address for these calculations.
If it is determined that your creditworthiness is insufficient, Unzer will immediately notify us accordingly.
If payments to Unzer are not made under the invoice purchase arrangement, Unzer will involve debt collection agencies.
Legal Basis
The legal basis for the processes described above in connection with Unzer’s payment option is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a GDPR.
Recipient
General information about Unzer can be found at:
https://www.unzer.com/de/
Your customer data and purchase contract data will be processed in accordance with the applicable data protection laws and the information provided in Unzer’s privacy policy.

Some of the cookies we use are deleted after the browser session ends, i.e. after you close your browser (so-called session cookies). Other cookies remain on your device for a specified period and allow us to recognize your browser on your next visit (persistent cookies). After expiration of the specified period, these cookies are automatically deleted.
The data stored in our cookies is not linked to your personal data (name, address, etc.).
The data processed through cookies is necessary for the stated purposes in order to safeguard our legitimate interests and those of third parties pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR.
You can configure your browser to notify you when cookies are set and to decide individually whether to accept them, or to exclude acceptance of cookies for specific cases or generally.
If cookies are not accepted, the functionality of our website may be limited.
ALTCHA
We use ALTCHA to protect our website against automated input and abusive use in connection with form submissions. ALTCHA is operated in an on-site configuration, meaning that processing takes place exclusively on our own servers. No personal data is transferred to third parties.
In particular, access data in server log files (e.g. IP addresses) may be processed.
The use of ALTCHA is based on our legitimate interest in preventing misuse pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR.
No cookies are set. The data is not used for tracking, analytics, or marketing purposes.

Use of Google AdWords Conversion Tracking
We use Google AdWords, a product of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”).
This product uses so-called conversion tracking technology. In this process, Google places a cookie on the devices of visitors who reach our website by clicking on a Google advertisement.
The cookie remains valid for 30 days. During this period, Google and we can determine that a user clicked on such an advertisement and thereby reached a predefined page on our website.
On our website, a tracking pixel is then placed on the devices of such visitors, allowing us to determine whether the visitor completed an order and, if so, the value of the order.
However, we do not receive any information that identifies the individual visitor personally. Instead, we only receive information about the total number of visitors redirected to our conversion page through a Google advertisement, as well as any order values.
Further information on data protection at Google can be found here.
Please note that these privacy notices are independent from ours, and we assume no responsibility or liability for them.
The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR.
Further information on the use or rejection of cookies can be found in the “Use of Cookies” section of this privacy policy.
Consent granted may be revoked at any time. Users may deactivate the service via the “Cookie Consent Tool” provided in the footer of the website.

Use of Linkster
On this website, we use tracking technology provided by Linkster GmbH, Colonnaden 5, 20354 Hamburg, Germany, in order to measure and visualize insights into partnerships and advertising channels.
This function is used to measure the efficiency of advertising measures. In addition, the information enables us to attribute advertising success for billing purposes with advertising partners.
When you click on an advertising integration, cookies are placed in your browser which are read in the event of a transaction.
At every touch point, your browser sends an HTTP request to Linkster’s server, transmitting certain information.
This information includes:
the URL of the website on which advertising material is placed (referrer URL),
the browser identifier (user agent) of your device, including information about device type and operating system,
the IP address of the device (which is anonymized and hashed before storage),
HTTP headers,
the time of the request,
and, if previously stored on the device, the cookie and its contents.
A cookie is a small data package exchanged between your browser and the server. Information relevant to the web application may be stored and transmitted in this package, such as the contents of a virtual shopping cart.
The tracking technology stores cookies on your device to document actions.
The cookie stores a 24-character anonymous identifier (ID). Data linked to this ID is stored in encrypted form in our database on the server.
This includes information regarding the most recent touch points (e.g. when a specific advertising medium was displayed or clicked on from a device).
Stored touch points may potentially be combined into a sequence chain (“user journey”).
In the event of an action request, order numbers and shopping cart values are often transmitted and stored.
In addition, the following values may also be transmitted and stored:
customer number,
new customer status,
age and gender,
and responses provided in customer surveys.
Cookies stored by Linkster GmbH are deleted no later than after 30 days.
The information and cookies transmitted to us serve exclusively to correctly assign the success of advertising media and for corresponding billing purposes. This processing is justified by our legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR.
If you do not wish cookies to be stored in your browser, you can prevent this through the appropriate browser settings.
You may disable cookie storage under browser settings or restrict it to certain websites. You may also configure your browser to notify you whenever a cookie is sent.
Please note that in this case you may experience limited display options and restricted user guidance.
You may also delete cookies at any time. In such cases, the information stored therein will be removed from your device.
The collection and processing of tracking data may also be disabled by clicking the following opt-out link:
https://trck.linkster.co/privacy-optout.do
You may access your data at:
https://trck.linkster.co/privacy-mydata.do
Cookies Used by Linkster
TRS:
Unique 24-character identifier (ID) for partnership tracking. This cookie is stored in the client browser and identifies database records containing touch point data.
TRSCJ:
Fallback cookie containing basic touch point data for partnership tracking. This cookie contains all touch point data in encrypted form within the client browser.
trs_db_optout:
When clicking the tracking opt-out link, a special cookie is written which disables tracking in the current browser. Tracking will be reactivated if the opt-out cookie is deleted.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics provided by Google Ireland Limited (Ireland/EU) on our website.
Google Analytics is a web analytics service that allows us to collect and analyze data regarding visitor behavior on our website.
For this purpose, Google Analytics uses cookies that enable analysis of website usage.
Personal data is processed in the form of:
online identifiers (including cookie identifiers),
IP addresses,
device identifiers,
and information about interactions with our website.
Some of this data consists of information stored on the device you use. Additional information is also stored on your device through cookies.
Storage of such information by Google Analytics or access to information already stored on your device only takes place with your consent.
Google Ireland processes the collected data on our behalf to evaluate use of our website by users, compile reports on website activities, and provide additional services relating to website usage and internet usage.
Pseudonymized user profiles may be created from processed data.
The storage of cookies and the further processing of personal data described above take place on the basis of your consent.
The legal basis is therefore Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR.
You may revoke your consent at any time with future effect via our consent management tool.
Personal data processed on our behalf in connection with Google Analytics may be transferred to any country in which Google Ireland or subcontractors of Google Ireland maintain facilities.
Please also refer to the information in the section “Data Transfers to Third Countries.”
We use Google Analytics only with active IP anonymization enabled. This means that users’ IP addresses are shortened within member states of the European Union or other contracting states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area.
The IP address transmitted by the user’s browser is not combined with other data.
Further information regarding data use for advertising purposes can be found in Google’s privacy policy:
www.google.com/policies/technologies/ads/
We use Google Analytics 4, which enables us to track device and session interaction data.
This allows us to place individual user actions into context and analyze long-term relationships.
User activity data is stored for 14 months and automatically deleted afterwards.
All other event data is stored for 2 months and then automatically deleted.
Deletion of expired data occurs automatically once per month.
We also use Google Analytics advertising functions (remarketing).
This function allows us, together with Google’s cross-device capabilities, to display advertisements more precisely and present interest-based advertising to users.
Remarketing shows users advertisements and products they have previously shown interest in on other websites within the Google advertising network.
This functionality enables us to combine advertising target groups created with Google Analytics Remarketing with Google Ads cross-device functions.
As a result, personalized and interest-based advertising messages adapted to your previous browsing and usage behavior on one device (e.g. mobile phone) may also be displayed on another device (e.g. tablet or computer).
If you consent, Google links your web browser and app history with your Google account for this purpose.
This allows the same personalized advertising messages to be displayed on every device on which you sign into your Google account.
Collection of data within your Google account occurs exclusively on the basis of your consent, which you may grant or revoke directly with Google.
For these linked services, Google Analytics collects data for advertising purposes.
To support the remarketing function, Google Analytics records temporary Google-authenticated user IDs linked with our Google Analytics data.
These are used to define and create target groups for cross-device advertising.
Consent granted may be revoked at any time. Users may deactivate the service via the “Cookie Consent Tool” provided in the footer of the website. Click “Cookie Settings” in the “Help & Service” section.
If you do not grant or revoke your consent, Google Analytics will be used without cookies, server-side only, session-based, and without personal reference.
In this case, only technical information such as:
page views,
access times,
or device types
is collected and fully anonymized on our own server before being transmitted to Google for statistical evaluation.
Identification of individual users is therefore impossible.
IP addresses are shortened and not combined with other data.
The legal basis for this data processing is our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR in optimizing our website and making it more user-friendly.
Review Reminder via Trusted Shops

We do not know conclusively and clearly how Instagram uses data from visits to Instagram pages for its own purposes, to what extent activities on the Instagram page are assigned to individual users, how long Instagram stores this data, or whether data from visits to Instagram pages is disclosed to third parties.
When accessing an Instagram page, the IP address assigned to your device is transmitted to Instagram.
According to Instagram, this IP address is anonymized for “German” IP addresses.
Instagram also stores information about users’ devices (e.g. within the “login notifications” function); it may therefore be possible for Meta to assign IP addresses to individual users.
If you are currently logged into Instagram as a user, a cookie containing your Instagram ID is stored on your device.
This enables Instagram to track that you visited this page and how you used it. This also applies to all other Instagram pages.
Instagram buttons integrated into websites enable Instagram to track your visits to those websites and associate them with your Instagram profile.
Based on this data, content or advertising tailored to you may be offered.
If you wish to avoid this, you should:
log out of Instagram,
deactivate the “stay logged in” function,
delete cookies present on your device,
and close and restart your browser.
This deletes Instagram information through which you could be directly identified.
You can then use our Instagram page without revealing your Instagram identity.
If you use interactive functions of the page (like, comment, share, message, etc.), an Instagram login screen will appear.
After logging in, you will again be recognizable to Instagram as a specific user.
